Follow directions!
I followed the directions, alternated freezing and thawing seeds in a cycle of 3 days each for 21 days. I soaked 15 seeds for 48 hours in a container of water and sprinkled them on top of water soaked starter soil of 50 percent sand and 50 percent sphagnum moss, wet but well drained. I also planted another 40 seeds that where not soaked in water for 48 hours about half of an inch into the soil to see if they would germinate. in 48 hours all 15 water soaked that where scattered on the soil germinated and are growing like crazy! Unfortunately, only 3 of the ones under the soil and not soaked germinated, It still has not been a week, I am expecting them to grow in the advertised four week cycle. What does this all mean? I am very satisfied with the seeds! 100 % of the water soaked seeds germinated using the freeze thaw, soak and scatter method. I have plenty of seeds left over and in only 2 days after planting I have 18 new plants germinated!

Grew pink wave petunias. Not Shiso plants.
These were not shiso seeds. I was able to successfully germinate and nurture several plants from these seeds though. I usually subscribe to the "Crowley " (from good omens) method of gardening. However, I really wanted these shiso to succeed. So I chilled them, dampened them in nutritious, sandy soil, and carefully tended them after they were seeded outside. I told the rest of my garden to grow if it was strong enough while I pampered and babied these seeds. They grew wonderfully. Into great, big, flowing waves of pink petunias. So if you want petunias, buy these "shiso" seeds, if you want shiso, visit Uajimaya in Seattle.

Great lil Seeds and even Greater seller!
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Shiso (perilla) leaf is rare find in markets. These seeds were lost in the mail and the seller was kind enough to Promptly resend me some! They were excellent customer service and kind people and my replacement seeds are sprouting away! Will def buy from this seller in the future!

They're growing!
Package arrived timely and had instructions on how to prep the seeds. We placed them on a wet towel and most of the seeds did sprout. We kinda forgot about them a couple of times so towel went dry. but quite a few sprouted and survived. It was hard to transplant them from the wet towel to the soil as they were growing into the paper towel. So we lost some, but there are a bunch of them that are growing. Next time we're going to try toilet paper as that will easily break apart and less disturbance to the roots. Still really small so going to take some time before we know what we got, but looks like the shape of the shiso leaves. This is the furthest we have gotten so far, and we are happy. I'll send a photo if they get big.

No germination!
All seeds in the envelop did not even germinate. I tried multiple ways (soil, location, indoor start, etc.) and times, but none of the seeds did not germinate during the period of 2&1/2 months. The envelop does not have an expiration date or a recommend period/ year to sow, so the seeds might have been old. I know that shiso is strong and relatively easy to grow, so I will not buy any seeds from this distributor. Besides the bad quality of the seeds, the method of the shipping used by this company is not reliable as I had hard and long time to receive my order of the seeds.

Good so far
About 60-70% germinated. They have good flavor but our leaves are not very large. Will buy again though.

Paper towel method + cold stratify in fridge
So, I got an amazing germination rate. I used the paper towel method (I put them in 05/15/2020, today is 06/02/2020), I put my seeds in the fridge for a week or two and then put them in a dark drawer near my bed. Most of them germinated and those that didn’t went back into the drawer and sprouted a few weeks later. As of right now the ones that I have planted are looking good and healthy. It does take a little while, but Shiso is definitely worth waiting for.

Germination rate is less than 1%
This is not the first time that green perilla and red perilla are grown from seeds. However, this time, the company I bought it from last time was out of stock, so I bought it here, but I was very disappointed because the germination rate was so low. This time I used half red and half blue, but only one bud of each germinated. It's a waste of money, effort and time when it comes to this seeds.
