Otsuka Pharmaceutical Pocari Sweat Powder for 10l (3)

I first discovered Pocari Sweat while in Bali, and it quickly became my go-to isotonic drink. It’s one of the few lemon-flavoured options I’ve found that doesn’t use artificial sweeteners—a huge bonus for me, as I really can’t stand that aftertaste. With the activities I do, from regular gym sessions to scuba diving, I often suffer from calf cramps, and Pocari Sweat genuinely helped with that. Unfortunately, here in the UK we don’t get the bottles and cans like you can in Indonesia or Australia. What we do get, however, is the powdered version—and to my surprise, I actually prefer it. The powder lets me mix the drink exactly to my taste. I’ve found that 120g of powder to 2 litres of water gives me the perfect balance, though of course everyone will have their own preference. I keep a 2-litre bottle ready in the fridge and decant about 300ml into a smaller bottle for the gym. That batch usually lasts me almost two weeks. The powder dissolves really well—no clumps, no gritty residue—and the flavour stays consistent from the first sip to the last. I usually buy the 3-pack, which lasts ages and works out much cheaper than buying ready-made isotonic drinks from other brands. Each pack is meant to make 10 litres, but since I like mine a little lighter than the suggested strength, I actually get more out of it. For me, it’s excellent value and one of the few products I’d say is truly worth keeping stocked up on. If you want a refreshing, effective isotonic drink without the artificial sweetener taste, I’d highly recommend Pocari Sweat.

What is a pocari ? How do they make it sweat? Isotonic rehydration straight from Japan. The powder is dissolved in to water so you can make as much or as little as you like. Mixing it yourself make is quite cost effective.

Anyone that's been to Japan will know how magical this drink is in humid weather. I was happy to see there is a powdered export version so I can make it at home! Its not quite the same, probably due to water quality and mixing temperature/speed etc but it does the job.

As mentioned it maybe expensive for some but this product is 1 st rate , I have used this for over 20 years and recommend it, I weigh out about 75 grams to a large jug of water, mix with hot water then top up with cold filtered water through fridge, use as required.

I'm convinced that the original drinks are manufactured by mixing this very powder and possibly distilled or purified (reverse osmosis) water. It just tastes the same. Highly recommended.
