I'm not sure what size your dishes are, but I'd suggest taking one dish, filling it with water up to the level you'd like to see the wax, then pour into a measuring container. You can then divide the wax quantity by that and it will give you how many you can make from it.

I'd recommend a commercial candle company fragrance oil to start with, which may come with their own recommendations of volume and have been safety tested, rather than using essential oil, which is very flammable.
