Visual Basic in easy steps: Updated for Visual Basic 2019

I have been involved in programming and all kinds of computer support for over 40 years. After spending several years learning and programming for iOS I wanted to get back to Windows and Visual Basic programming. All for my own enjoyment now. This book was exactly what I needed to begin to adapt to the programming world I once knew. The examples are well written and explained and best of all they work! Most everything you need to get started is in this book. Kudos to the author/s and publishers. I will be looking at their other books with great interest.

I am new to programming and I recommend this book. The author explains concepts well using examples and exercises. From then on, a beginner can construct ways to apply what he learns using different variables and values and even divert from the samples programs and write his own.

For beginner Visual Basic learners, this is a good resource. It starts out with how to install and use Visual Studio and then jumps into using tools to quickly throw together graphical interfaces. That lets new programmers have something they made written and working quickly which should encourage them to continue. In the end, there is only one short chapter (22 pages) in the book that covers the Visual Basic language at all and it only covers the bare minimum needed to get someone started. However, the author goes on to show several examples of more complex, real-world problems that can be solved with Visual Basic. For beginners, I think this would be an excellent resource.

Having used a different version of Visual Studio before, I was after a means of quickly getting started. This book was it.
