Another Kikusumi outstanding beauty
I own every one of Kikusumi ceramic knives, and I have also bought sets for gifts. I am truly impressed with the quality of these knives and Kikusumi's stellar customer service. Not only do I love using the knives, but I am also very pleased to support a company with such integrity and vision. This bread knife is gorgeous, and it cuts beautifully. It cuts through bread with ease, and it leaves little crumbs. There are many other functions that this knife can be used for other than bread. Ceramic is especially good for a serrated knife since ceramic holds an edge much longer than steel. This knife feels great in the hand; it is exceptionally well balanced with outstanding ergonomics. I am not surprised to hear that many other people are equally pleased with this beautiful, sharp knife.

Exquisite design and ergonometrics
A very light and lovely knife. Works very well on rolls, baguettes, batards and standard pain de mie bread loaves. The larger round sourdough loaves from Essential Bakery here in Seattle are almost two wide for it though and the blade is super light so doesn't have the heft to sink into these wider, tougher loaves. But great on the regular stuff. :) Fits very well in the hand. The packaging is technical and well designed. Feels like an Apple product. Too bad the "Made in China" sticker is so large and prominent on the back of the box. That definitely does not give a first impression, but the product itself was without defects and looks great.

This is a nice knife.
It cuts well, is attractive, comfortable to hold, but still doesn't cut through my super tough sour dough loaf. :(

Worth the purchase and try one if you slice a lot of bread and make sandwiches
Cuts breadd without shredding it. I have a very expensive bread knife that goes with a very expensive set of knives that have a lifetime warranty on them and I could not get the bread knife to slice a warm loaf of bread without a disastorous outcome. This Kikusumi handles that job like a pro. It's also good looking and the blade guard helps me keep it in a drawer and not get damaged.

will break if dropped
This knife has been fabulous for cutting bread. After only six months, the knife was accitdentally knocked off the counter onto the floor. As a result, the blade completely broke off from the handle. I hope the seller sees this review and is able to replace this product for me, or at least refund me for this. *Update: The seller went out of his way to replace this knife for me (two times due to postal error). I couldn't be more pleased with this customer service. Thank you so much! The new knife is as amazing as my first one. I really do love this bread knife.

for $11, safe to say. DO NOT LET IT FALL even five feet, bought three of these as knock around and are not worth even that. detonated upon first drop every time.

strange
this knife is plenty sharp, as i know to my cost, but for some reason, when i'm trying to cut a crusty bread, it doesn't dig into the crust but skitters across the surface. with the consequence that i've cut myself two or three times using it. maybe the blade is too light? this didn't happen with my former breadknife, at least fifty or sixty years old and probably something more than that--it belonged to my grandmother--which i finally had to replace because the bakelite handle disintegrated. this ceramic knife seems like it should be a great knife, but i'm going back to a metal one.
