as far as i can remember its of normal weight of a pen, not overly heavy or light

Yes it can, just not by U.S. Regards Jo.

Will this pen take a ballpoint refill

Hello A. Constable, this is Francesca from Waterman Consumer Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our Waterman Expert Rollerball Pen, Blue with Chrome Trim. Please be informed that only Waterman rollerball refills should be used with this pen.

Does the nib gradually recede back in the longer you write?

The pen gives a fantastic writing experience. I not sure I understand well the question, it has a steady performance even after a long writing or several years of use. It is the second time a buy this pen, the previous was still functioning perfectly but I wanted to replace because after many years of usage the clip was broken and the pen got few scratches. I am in love with this pen, both the functional and aesthetical part fully cover my everyday, business needs, at a price which is fair.
