Has anyone tried this with a 12 gauge automatic shot gun and if so how does the recoil effect the mounting and the light?

I have mine mounted to an XD .40 service model and the one major draw back to this product is the pin that holds the quick release lever. After about 350 rounds through the weapon w/ the light attached the pin began to back itself out. It's a quick fix with a spring pin but it is something to keep an eye on. Hope this helps.

is there any estimate of "constant on" battery life?

W, I own 2 of these- although mine are Nebo Pro-Tec tac lights- they are the same light with the same battery and mount.In my experience, after accidentally leaving one on, it was just as bright after about 45 min. I had replaced the original battery with a new generic alkaline about a week previous. I think that's pretty good, and I do carry extra batteries inside the foregrip of my 9mm AR. Hope this helps.
