Do you measure including the thumb or just the palm?

I'm a Physical Therapist. You want to start ABOVE the Thumb & go straight across your palm. Do NOT do what that size chart is doing. I have no idea why they look like they are looping around under the thumb. It's also impossible to do.

Please help on what size to get. I wear a size 5 ring on ring finger. Will use at for typing on the keyboard in a cold office.

Gloves are NOT measured by a Ring Size. They are measured by the circumference of your palm. Ring size has NOTHING to do with it.
