Exactly as expected.

This book is fantastic and in my opinion would be a good fit for a beginner who already has some SQL knowledge. This would be a good reference to have for any new PL/SQL developer or someone who wants to enhance their knowledge and use of Oracle database. I would recommend this as a starting point or baseline THEN (not before) using the web to get your information for more complex topics. Approaching PL/SQL in the right order will help you avoid mistakes down the line and enable you to know what to not copy and paste from the web. Oracle's website has a ton of great information, but having a book like this with examples and further explanations comes in very handy when getting exposed to/learning PL/SQL.

I've been working with Oracle for over 20 years now and wherever I go, I have the Oracle Technical Reference and this book at least - these are like tools a car technician would have in their own car at all times.The biggest problem I see people have with this book is trying to use it for reference and it's not really designed that way. The way the book is arranged, each topic starts with code snippets that improve as you work through them until at the end you see everything complete and I've discovered this is an awesome way to truly grok the use of the concept. Then once I've done that it's great for reference later because I can see not only how it's supposed to work, but how it evolved to work that way.Once you get used to what the book is actually doing, you'll probably find out you want the book around all the time too.

Excellent book with great examples. It covers just abut everthing in detail. However what I would like to see is some exercises that would allow you to test what you have learned. These exercises could also be in a companion book since this book is already so large.

I bought this and it sits on my desk, where i use it as a reference at least once a week. it will help you solve tricky Oracle problems, most times faster than google!

This book is awesome. I think the title should be 'Applied Oracle PL/SQL' though because it doesn't just explain core concepts or theory as I find in many other books, it actually walks you through the mind of a developer as s/he analyses and apply PL/SQL to solve real world business problems.

Very clear explanations, helped me to make in two weeks to make a nice little application in PL/SQL. Not only technical but also very practical.

The book is very long but there are a lot of superb examples to explain their ideas and techniques. There is also a little bit of humor which makes the experience better in my opinion. Content-wise it is perfect, I felt like every topic was explained or mentioned. I found their advices very helpful for my day to day programming. Remember that this version covers until 12c!

Nice and easy to follow, extremely complete, but not complicated.
