Simple, low cost, and reliable gadget
Low cost and excellent performance. It is very simple to set up, extremely light weight, small footprint, and records steps accurately. Just drop it in your pocket and forget about it. I only use it for walks and it is very accurate, within a foot. The main source of discrepancy is in how you measure your stride (step). Since the stride changes with velocity, think of the figure as an average plus or minus a small difference with the measured length (true length of the circuit). An adjustment of just one inch gave me the exact same figures (device, circuit) so be aware of this. The device resets itself automatically every day and allows for up to 7 days history plus today (total of 8 days). Converts steps to distance and has a clock (not a stopwatch, just a clock), so if you want time you have to either bring a stopwatch or record start / finish time. You may select miles or kilometers. Extremely useful. If you are having separate sessions just record the initial steps count and/or miles/kilometer count and the substract from it.

A well-designed and inexpensive basic electronic pedometer
If you want to track your steps and calories, and upload the data to computer for comparison, purchase one of the more expensive devices that permit such record-keeping. If you only desire to keep an accurate count of steps taken and miles incurred per day, and get a sense of how much walking you are doing on a regular basis, his inexpensive pedometer works fine and takes up minimal room in your pocket. You won't be devastated if you lose it and have to buy another one. (I purchased a cord separately on Amazon for under $2 including shipping.) Set up is easy once you have measured the length of your stride in inches(be realistic when counting off the ten steps). The HJ-320 keeps records for the current and the seven previous days. (It resets to zero at midnight local time.) You can't upload the data and there is no record of calories consumed or sleep time, just steps, distance in miles, and time of day. After researching the more expensive devices I decided to try the HJ-320 first for a couple of months to see whether I was really into record-keeping (as I am with my bike rides). I will likely just stick with the HJ-320 and depend on it to encourage me to walk more during my workday. Update: After 5 years and many miles my HJ-320 died. I quickly purchased another one. Although the price had increased this pedometer still seems to be a very good choice if you want to count distance as well as steps. If you want a lanyard as I do it must be purchased separately, a minor extra cost

Small & Accurate
It's a nice little thing, especially for the price. I've tried numerous times with how accurate it is--and it is VERY accurate. All you have to do is stick it in your pocket, and it's small enough to forget it's even there, and the slim shape makes it so you don't need to worry about it falling out. I also like how it has the memory--it seems to add a bit of motivation to move more so you have more on your record. I was lucky enough to get it right before they turned it into an add-on item! The size is very compact and it fits in a pocket well. It's 3 inches long, and about 1 1/8th of an inch wide, and about a third of an inch thick (without the clip). It's very small, About a third of the size seems to be solely for the brand name, and I think if they make an update they should take that part off and put the brand name somewhere else--make it just that much smaller! Also, it takes a minute or two to set it up (which isn't a bad thing). And when you run, it counts each step as one step (I think they're supposed to--I'm not a professional). I would recommend it to anyone who wants a simple and accurate pedometer.

Simple, effective, and cheap
Bought this for my wife. It counts daily strides and distance walked, nothing else. It can't be turned on or off, though the display blanks after a bit to save on the battery. Each day, so long as you wear it, it accumulates your strides. You can look at your totals at any time. At midnight it resets everything to zero and saves your totals. The most recent seven days' totals are always available and can be scrolled though. Older days are lost. So basically after the first setting you do nothing; you either wear the unit or you don't. Initial setup is pretty easy -- measurement units, stride length, and current time. The unit comes with a slide on clip, which my wife uses to hold it to the waist of her pants, or you can leave the clip off and put the unit in a pocket. There is also a small screwdriver to change the battery when necessary. It's a *very* small screwdriver, so keep it somewhere safe and remember where you put it! The unit itself is small and thin and almost weightless, but the display is big enough to read. It doesn't much care about orientation since it has a 3-axis accelerometer, which is nice. So, strides and distance walked. Nothing else. It won't tell you how many calories you've burned or your weight on Jupiter, and it won't connect with your computer. But if it meets your needs in a pedometer, it's simple, well-designed, and cheap.

Keep track of miles and/or steps with no bells or whistles or internet
I recently lost my pedometer and had to replace it. No bells or whistles with this model. No internet connection needed. Just a battery. Apparently, I'd had my prior Omron pedometer since about 2014 and used it every day. The clip on the lanyard broke and I lost it. This lets me keep track of how many miles I walk in a day.

Simple, light and effective
I bought this as a replacement for an earlier version which had finally stopped functioning after two years' valued service and occasional unintentional abuse. I try to keep it in a discreet pocket in order to have the option of checking how much walking I have done on any given day. It automatically resets itself at the start of each day and keeps a running record of longer-term totals. It is easy to set initially once you have worked out how to assess your standard stride, but more difficult to adjust later if you decide you have measured that incorrectly. Perhaps If I knew were I had put the instruction leaflet, that would be easier. It also seems to have a different view from me on how to differentiate between walking and active sport: at least it seems unable to distinguish what I do on the tennis court from its definition of walking! But despite that, it is an ideal and inexpensive tool for the limited purposes for which I bought it

Works okay except for lack of "pause" and no "reset".
It does the job. It has a strange way of working though. It starts recording at midnight every night, whether you use it or not. At the next midnight it zeros out and starts over, saving the previous day to the log. There is no way to pause it, nor is there a way to reset it to zero after a walk. You either have to wait for midnight, or set the clock to 11:59 pm and wait for it to hit 12. For most people this might be fine, as it sort of takes care of itself, but I would like to be able to reset it if I want to. Beyond that, it is light, nice looking, easy to use, and has a lanyard hole. I would have given it 4 stars but lack of at least a "pause" function is just dumb. When I put it in my bag to take to work, it racks up half a mile in the car!

Very Nearly 5 Stars
If you look at my reviews, I rarely give things five stars. I'm usually at a 4 because I research stuff before I buy it so I generally like what I get, but there's usually something wrong with the item that could be improved. It's really about a 4.5 or 4.8 review with the only major complaint I have being that the screen was already getting light scratching after one day of use being safely in a men's shirt pocket. Also, the edges on the front collect dirt easily in the crevices, but it's not too hard to clean so that's minor. I lost my old fitness tracker and wanted something cheap, that had good battery life, measured my steps accurately, and since I got spoiled I wanted something I could have in a pocket instead of needing to put it on my belt for accuracy. This device met all of those criteria with flying colors. You'll want to keep the instructions since the setup isn't intuitive, but since you rarely have to change the battery it's not too big a deal; estimates of 9-12 months battery life are what I've seen, but I haven't had it long enough to attest to that. It takes a 2032 battery and you'll either need the screw driver that comes with it or a glasses one like you get at a dollar store to change the battery. After tweaking my stride setting a bit I was able to test it repeatedly with 300 steps and got results that were either exactly right or within 1% of the real value. It also has a neat feature that doesn't count steps until you've taken multiple ones in a row so it's not counting up, at least more than a tiny bit, when I'm riding in the car. That's a big plus I didn't even realize I wanted. It's so light weight I forget it's even in my pocket. --Update 12/11/15-- I added a screen protector for a PSP that I cut down to size so that's solved the screen scratching problem.

Simple and effective
Works great, tracks relatively accurate. Measures in steps and kilometres (or miles), keeps data for a week. Fairly easy setup, and it's small enough to fit in any of my pockets so it doesn't have to show.

Excellent
I bought this to use with a weight loss app and it was important for me to do a set amount of steps a day. This is so a curate as you have to first measure your stride and enter it in to the pedometer. It also tells you how many miles or kilometers you have walked and a clock. So easy to use. I wear it every day just clip it on to my belt trousers or even on to my bra and it never falls off.

Granny who loves to walk
Great pedometer for the price - very easy to set up , small fits easily in pocket -seems accurate when checked on walking track once you get your stride right - if you just want to keep track of distance and don't want to be bothered hooking up to apps and Internet this one is for you
