This Ethernet surge suppressor will clamp ringing voltage to ground...telephones will not ring and if the line has DSL service the high frequency data signal will be interrupted during ringing and most likely cause the DSL modem to retrain. **Q: I have one of these and it stopped working after a lightening storm. Is it defective or did it just work as planned?** A: Most likely it worked as planned.
